Critic's Review
Prince Street Pizza is a popular pizza joint in NYC; they took over the old Ray's Pizza location when it wen't under. Personally if I'm in this area I'd opt to hit Katz's Deli around the corner, but that's just me.Usually when these places turn into national chains, they're not nearly as good, but I was in the mood for a slice.
One of the problems with th is place is there are too many choices, and the choices aren't ordinary. There was one group in front of me and they asked about every kind of slice available, which took a long time. Pizza should be fast "Large pie please". "Large Sausage Pizza please".
The signature "Naughty Pie" has slices that were much smaller than the Miami Location I'd been to before, and it was short on Pepperoni. Plus I'm not a fan or Riccota on pizza so I was passing on that.
The plain pies didn't look very good; The sunset slice would allow me to test unadulterated sauces and the "Fancy" round slice looked pretty good.
The wait for the slices was longer that I expected. How Long does it take? Meanwhile, there's no comfortable seating; I got a table in the corner.
The Sunset Alice was pretty small for $6 but looked pretty good.
I tasted both slices and had to think about it. The sauces is sweet; too sweet for my liking. Not bad, but the cheese didn't pop. The cheese on the Sunset slice was particularly bland. Cheese should b e good and salty.
These are no Detroit or true pan pizza slices that have the nice crispy crust. I got a corner but the crust didn't impress me at all.
The problem with slices is the re-heating changes things. The Basil looks good on the counter, but reheating the slice burned the base and it wasn't as good as it should have been.
