Critic's Review
Another day, another Classic Italian sandwich from Capriotti's. This time it was going to be for dinner; I didn't feel like cooking today. I wanted to try a new location, so I ordered from the one near Costco next to Home Depot on Sunset.I scheduled the pickup for 5:45; I wasn't going to eat this for a few hours so I ordered the salad dressing on the side. They give you a lot more when you order it on the side also.
Shredded lettuce ruins an Italian. Notice I got a $2 discount. When you sign up with them you get a $2 discount. Every time I've ordered, they send you a survey and you get a $2 coupon code. The caveat is that you have to use the code within 30 days.
With no traffic on a Sunday I got here at 5:25 so I poked around Home Depot for a while before going into the store.
4 people behind the counter but no-one acknowledged me until the 2 ladies at the register were done chatting. Good think I'd ordered in advance; my order was ready when I finally got someone's attention.
When I got home I put the bag right into the fridge. I wasn't eating until 10pm. When the time to eat came, I unwrapped the sub.
A pretty substantial sandwich. I opened it up to see what's inside.
The "vinaigrette" didn't look good to me. It tasted even worse. I opted to put my own oil and vinegar on the sandwich rather than the stuff provided.
My one peeve with this place is that they don't have banana peppers; I keep a jar in my fridge.
I also have better pickles than they do; I added a couple of my own super dill pickles. The beauty of loading up with banana peppers and pickles; virtually 0 calories.
The end result was very good. Unfortunately you probably won't have the ingredients to take this sandwich to the next level, so it may not be as good.
