Critic's Review
When you move to a new city, you'll find a lot of different fast food venues that weren't in your previous location. There are no In n Out burgers, Jack in the box or Carl Jr's in South Florida. There are also no Del Tacos. In 2021 Del Taco was acquired by Jack in the Box; interesting since I really like Jack in the box old-style American Tacos. When you sign up they send you a bunch of "deals", so I just ordered some stuff I wanted to try. A carnita taco, a mini and a "chicken roller", which someone told me was good.
Cheap in the mold of taco bell. I walked into the place having no idea how the pre-order worked, so I waited to get someone's attention.
The place is like a bad cafeteria. Luckily I was taking out.
The food was actually ready; I could have just grabbed it I think. Why don't homeless people come in and just take people's pre-paid for take out? There's a reason they're homeless.
When I got home I opened it up.
Not very impressive. Very fast food looking. First I tried the carnita taco, which loosely resembled the popular "street tacos" that you can find people selling ever block or so.
Zero taste. Boiled meat. Without sauce this is just a tasteless blob. The chicken roller was 90% tortilla, hardly anything inside.
Given the ratio I couldn't really taste the chicken. Too much totrilla. Just chicken cubes and cheese. Nothing to see here.
The snack taco also had no taste. These thing have nothing on Jack in the Box.
Conclusion
Del Taco tries to be a "better" Taco Bell, but I don't think it's better than Taco Bell. Taco bell has flavor; it's at least good as late night munchie food. This stuff is just a bunch of senseless calories. I really didn't care for it at all.7/11/23 Marks Street Henderson
If you sign up on their website or app you'll get a free offer on your birthday; I got a free regular shake. No purchase required. This location is close to Costco in the Walmart Shipping Center, so I could do my food shopping, pick up my free shake and stock up on some stuff from Costco.I ordered on the phone app from the Walmart parking lot; an annoyance is that I had to enter a credit card as a payment type for my $0.00 order. I don't like ordering stuff on my phone because it's a pain to enter the CC info. I guess I could get apple pay but that's another conversation.
The shake was ready when I got there; maybe 4 minutes later.
The give you a fat plastic straw with a pointy end to pierce the paper thingy they put over the hole to keep the shake from leaking.
The shake is pretty good; not too sweet and not very chocolate-y. 550 calories I probably don't need, but hey, it was free.
