Critic's Review
One of my favorite spicy dishes to order is salt and pepper pork chops, and these guys had it on the menu. So when I was in the neighborhood I picked some up on the way home. It's your typical take-out place; there were people eating in but I wouldn't want to eat here.
As usually they don't ask what sauces you want and just give you soy sauce. They used to ask back in the day; now they just hope you don't ask for any.
When I got home I opened it up.
It looked OK, although I questioned the lack or a fresh red chili pepper. And where was the garlic? It's unusual to have a dried one in this dish. Sometimes you get this with the pork chip cut into bite size pieces; I did this on my own before bowling it.
I was disappointed with this order. It wasn't very spicy. The way this dish should be made is you cook garlic and hot peppers in the oil and then cook the battered pork in the spicy oil. The result is very spicy pork. It's obvious these pork chops were pre made without the spiciness and there were just warmed up later. The result was battered pork chops with not enough spice.
I think I'll give this place another try, but I won't order this from them again.
