Critic's Review
I got a $5 "reward" for my birthday, so I though I'd get a sub for dinner one evening. Most days I don't eat 2 big meals, and a sub is 650 calories. You have to order online to get the reward, plus it's easier to customize your sandwich. Italian subs are complicated.I was picking this up mid-day but didn't plan on eating it until later that night, so I ordered the oil and vinegar on the side. Note the comment on the order; I specifically said "Not on the sandwich" so there was no ambiguity. I scheduled the order for 1`/2 hour ahead so I could stop into Walmart to buy some rye bread. This Walmart is the only one in the area that bakes rye bread in their bakery. Unfortunately, they only had pumpernickel today.
I walked int a completely empty store at 3:10pm.
The kid behind the counter handed me a wrapped sandwich with no bag. "I ordered oil and vinegar on the side", I said, surmising that they forgot to include it. The women came over to see what was going on. It was determined that he put it on the sandwich, which is precisely what I asked them not to do. The woman asked if I wanted them to remake it. I told her I wasn't going to eat it right away and it would be too soggy; she nodded in agreement and re-made the sandwich.
So ordering in advance didn't save me any time, although it wasn't busy so it only took a couple of minutes.
I didn't open it when I got home; I just put the wrapped sub into the fridge. I took it out later that evening .
I got the 8" sub since I had the discount; a pretty wide sub in the bag.
Unwrapped it looked like a lot of bread.
opening this up it just didn't look well organized. The bread to meat ratio isn't good; the long sandwich sliced pickles; very cheap with the onions.
But the big fail was the tomatoes; these are not edible tomatoes. I had nice ripe beefsteak tomatoes ripening on my window sill, so why was I going to eat this?
I decided to load this up with onions, ripe tomato slices, more banana peppers and romaine lettuce.
Even with the fix-ups, this sandwich didn't measure up to other vendor's offerings. The bread was bad (not all that tasty and it fell apart too easily) and not enough meat. Or at least the meat didn't stand up
