Critic's Review
For years I've been pointing out that "Wagyu" burgers aren't really what you think they are; for $1 more you're not getting a chopped up wagyu steak. Wonder what they do with the rest of the cow? Nobody is selling Wagyu rump roasts. And with ground beef, the marbling is inconsequential; the meat is chopped up and fat is added and it's all miuxed up; which is why a hamburger tasted better than a chuck steak. I got a $3 off offer for an Arby's Wagyu stteakhouse burger so I thought I'd give it a try. The rift was what I had to order online, and their online system was badly broken.First, they didn't have the Jamocha shake I wanted in Henderson; the Henderson location doesn't have a lot of things; no chicken or fish. Ridiculous. So I had to order from Nellis, which is a bit further with much worse traffic.
But when I tried to order, I kept getting errors. I tried Safari, Chrome; but it was their web site refusing to take my order.
I tried every once in a while and after about an hour it took my order. I got the email confirmation so I figured I was good.
I placed the order at 3:15 and scheduled it for 3:45 so I didn't have to rush. I hit a bunch of traffic and got there about 3:50.
But when I told them I had a web order and my name, they said it hadn't come through yet. I told them it was over 1/2 hour so it didn't look promising. To make matters worse, I didn't have the email confirmation on my phone; I have my email firewalled and I didn't download before I left home. They asked what I ordered and they said they'd start to make it while we waited for it to come through.
I didn't it expect it to ever come through, so I logged into the web site to get my order details. I showed it to them, and they seemed unconcerned. They were pretty good about it; I suspect this happens frequently.
They gave me the shake while they prepared the burger.
This thing is really good; I'd. had it before at the Henderson location, which is why it was weird that they didn't have it anymore.
The burger came out and they just handed me the bag. No questions asked about the order that never arrived at the store.
When I got it home opened it up; it was smaller than I expected.
Decent tomatoes, almost no lettice, and a brick of meat that didn't look much different than any other fast food burger.
I cut it in half to get a better view.
Frankly, this burger sucked. It was too well done, and if you fry out all of the fat a burger just isn't any good. This was much worse than most fast food burgers I''ve had recently.
The shake, however, was great. TGF the shake.
