Critic's Review
If you have an account with Jersey Mike's, you get a free regular sub on your birthday, and the coupon is good for a while (unlike places that require you get it within a week like Texas Roadhouse). Last year I went to the Paradise Road location. This location just opened. You can order online and they have a easy way to configure your sandwich any way you want it. I always order without lettuce (they use shredded lettuce and I don't want it), and since I was eating this for dinner, I ordered it without oil or vinegar, as it would make the sandwich soggy Can't beat the price.
.
The store is next to Costco, so it's very convenient if you shop at Costo.
I got 0 attention as I entered. I looked for a pick up area and didn't see one; I waited for a bit at the end of the counter to get someone's attention.
Then I noticed the pick up rack tucked in the corner. My order was in a bag on the rack.
I put the bag into the refrigerator when I got home. And then took it out when I was ready to eat. I was also air frying some frozen french fries, si it would give the sandwich time to come to room temperature.
Inside the twisted bag (a signature thing at Mike's), is a well wrapped sub.
Their nutrition calculator says this is over 1,000 calories, but it also says that mayo and mustard ads 400 calories, which seems impossible. They do put too much mayo on the sub, but my guess is this is about 900-950 Calories.
Way more meat than you get a Port Of Subs or Cneba Hut. This sub is a meal.
Opening it to see the proportions; 2 really skinny tomatoes, not many onions. Cheap the the non-meat items. The meats come pre-portioned in these places so you always get the same..
I have beautiful ripe tomatoes and grill pickle slices, so why not add some to the sub to make it even better? A couple of more banana peppers too. Capriotti's doesnt have banana peppers so I had to buy some in the supermarket.
And last but not least, the olive oil and red wine vinegar, and a sprinkle of oregano. It's best to crumble the oregano with your fingers as you sprinkle to get better flavro from the dried herbs.
This was a really nice meal for a change; I usually have pasta for dinner so it's nice to break up the monotony once in a while.
